Happy Easter!!

We started out with our Easter festivities on Saturday morning, the 23rd. First, the kids and I headed to the Kroc Center for the Easter egg hunt that our church does in partnership with Kroc. That went pretty quickly and then about 11, we headed up to Bauman's Farms in Brooks for a picnic, another Easter egg hunt, some cookie decorating and some bouncing on a big pillow for Hannah. This egg hunt was SO crazy...TONS of people, but the kids seemed to enjoy it - other than the Easter bunny for Isaiah - and got quite tired out. Saturday evening we got some eggs hard-boiled and colored them. They really had fun with this and Isaiah would get so excited to see the eggs turn color. :)

Sunday, we went to church and then Paul, Georganne, Naomi and my Grandpa Willard came over for lunch. We had a yummy ham dinner and a relaxing afternoon, with all the kids wanting to do is eat candy. :)

The best part about Easter, of course, is celebrating the resurrection of our Savior and it warms my heart so much to hear Hannah telling us and her little brother that Easter isn't about the bunny, its about Jesus rising from the dead!! :)

Fun projects

I'm finally back...who knows for how long, but at least I'm making a post! :) And, much to your dismay (I'm sure!), its not about the kids...sorry!

Just thought I'd share a few projects I did recently with this thing called "vinyl". I'm sure you've all seen the different companies that sell vinyl lettering, such as this and even though they are able to come up with some pretty fun, creative stuff, it can be kind of spendy. I've seen infomercials on the Cricut, the little cutting machine I have and its showed it can cut vinyl. So, I went and bought my own rolls and started cutting away to try to save some money, but have some cute decorative things. Thought I'd just share a few of the things I've done.

Another wall in their bathroom - the walls are actually the same color, the lighting just was different from the camera flash...and the lines on the wall, making it look like I put one frame on the other side of a corner, is really just the shadows from the doorway. My most recent project below - today actually. I got these for Christmas a few years ago and love them, however, I saw an idea and thought I would add to them and make them a little more fun... :)

Zoo Lights!

On Fri, the 17th (my posts are in backwards order, this should have gone before Isaiah's birthday...oops!) David, the kids and I headed up to Portland for the afternoon. First stop was Ikea to get some things for the house that we needed, then to Red Robin for dinner and then headed over to the Zoo to see the lights. Unfortunately we didn't get there as early as we wanted to and it was REALLY crowded and REALLY cold, but it was a fun time and some good hot chocolate warmed our cold bones. We hardly got any pics, because we forgot to charge our camera batteries before we left, but here are a couple we did get.

Our Little Man is 2!!

Saturday, the 18th, our baby boy turned 2! So hard to believe how fast the time has gone and not so much a baby anymore. We had a small party with family and friends and then on Christmas we celebrated with my family that weren't able to come. Of course, celebrating on Christmas isn't something I'm always going to do...especially as he gets older, its just what worked out the best during this busy, busy time of year. Isaiah has REALLY been into trains (choo choo, as he calls it), so we did a Thomas the Train birthday for him. He was so excited about it when he saw the cake. It was fun to get some pics of him getting messy with his cake, because for his 1st birthday, he was sick and wasn't really into it.

I took him for his 2 year check-up today and he was 32 lbs (70th percentile) and 35" tall (over 90th percentile - not too surprising :))

the other one is Zach, our friend Travis's little guy. Travis's wife Shanna went to be with the Lord last May after a battle with cancer. :( Zach turned one on Dec. 15 so they are almost exactly a year apart.

Jada's Birthday party

Sunday the 12th was a busy day for us...after church and the Christmas program, we headed out to Canyonview Camp where we were invited to Hannah's friend Jada's 4th birthday party. The theme was a "pony"party and they all got to ride on the horses there at the camp. The kids LOVED it! Just wanted to share some pics of their rides...it was Isaiah's first time riding on a horse and he did SO good! Hannah has ridden a pony before, but not a bigger horse.

Hannah's Christmas Program

A few weeks ago, on the 12th, Hannah was in her first Christmas program at church. Actually this was the first one they've had in many years - no one has ever stepped up and been willing to work with the kids and this year we had someone that was willing. Hannah was chosen for a sheep part and even had lines. The coordinators told me that during practices she said her lines the loudest. Hm, I thought..."funny because she's always so shy...we'll see about that on the day of performance." :) Well, Sunday came and she went up to the front of the church with all the other little kids and sat there - with a STONE COLD look on her face. You could see her eyes searching for me and anyone she might know. She caught a glimpse of me and smiled and waved, then stone cold again. Then, she saw Micah and got all excited and started waving and said "HI Micah!!" I think that made her day...aw, so sweet she was so excited her cousin was there. :) It turned out you couldn't even hear her say her lines, just like I thought. Once, I heard a tiny bit of her voice in one of the songs, but soon blended in with the other kids'. There was a little 3 yr old boy, Tommy, Hannah's friend, that didn't want to go up with all the kis, but after watching them for a while, he decided to go up. He sat by Hannah and soon he started pulling the wool off of her costume and was throwing it up in the air. Well, then this prompted her to start doing the same and then Trinity, also 3, started joining in. Tommy then got antsy being up there, started playing with the mics and whatever would entertain him. Well, little did he know, he and Hannah were entertaining everyone in the audience. Finally at a quiet spot between songs and lines, his dad's voice came from the back saying "Tommy sit down!" He froze and then realized who was saying that and went off the stage. Hannah and Trinity still were playing with her wool that had been pulled off, but the eventually settled down. At the last song, the 2 youth girls that were helping out with the program took Joel (18 mo) and Isaiah up to be part of the program at least a little. Well, Isaiah didn't like it, and sat there in Nikki's arms with a BIG pouty look on his face. Joel on the other hand was fine until the end of the song and everyone started clapping...that scared him. I videoed it on our video camera...I wish there was a way I could put it on here...just telling the story just doesn't do justice. :)

Well, we've had quite a few things going on in the Pfnister household in the month of December and I figured I better catch up the blog before we leave for our trip to Florida on Sat and then I get waaayyyy behind...

Civil War

On Civil War day, I had to work, so David and the kids went over to our pastor's house and hung out to watch the game. Our kids have Beaver gear, from Aunt Melinda of course, so that's who they cheered for. Dane & Jill (pastor & his wife) are Ducks fans, so Joel, their little guy was decked out in Ducks gear. Unfortunately our Beaver team spirit wasn't enough, because the Ducks won. Oh well, it was a fun day for them all anyway.
