Snow bunnies

This last Saturday, David didn't have to work and I didn't either, so we decided to have a family day out, since we don't get many of those. So we decided to head up to play in the snow and go tubing for the day. We decided to go to Mt. Hood Ski Bowl, because we had a coupon for the tubing. Well, we got there, David went up to check out the different options for passes and came back to the car to share with me. We decided what we would do, got ourselves and the kids all bundled up, and headed back up to the building to get our passes. By the time we got up there again, probably about 15-20 min later (because it takes SO long to get everything on, especially on the kids), they were all out of tubes...just before we got back there, two big groups had come and taken the rest of the tubes. We were told we could go a little farther up the mountain to the Summit at Gov't Camp, which turned out better, because it cost less and we were able to ride tandem on the tubes, whereas at Ski Bowl, we would have had to ride as singles...the only bad thing was there was no rope tow, which ended up not being that bad, because the walk up the hill was pretty easy. It was just a little frustrating we had to leave because we had all our snow clothes on and had to get the kids back in their car seats, so we just stretched out their seat straps as far as we could to go around the clothes. :) We got to the hill, got our tubes, and out comes the brave side of Hannah again - she wanted to go down the hill, the first time, alone. There was a kiddie hill off to the side of the big hill, and so she did that, and was thoroughly enjoying herself. She didn't want to go down with us at all. But then we went on the bigger hill and she decided she'd rather go with one of us on that. Isaiah was cute - all bundled up and looked like he could barely move. He went down a few times with us, but had no expression or excitement...he probably didn't really understand what was going on. We spent a couple hours there, and by then the kids were getting cold and wet, because it was raining, then snowing, then sleet off and on. It wiped them out good though and they crashed on the way home. We'll try again next year and by then Isaiah should be older to enjoy it a little more.
